“NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF NORTH DAKOTA, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN: That the Sixty-ninth Legislative Assembly urges Congress to provide veterans with medical coverage for hyperbaric oxygenation therapy”
PRESS RELEASE
April 26, 2025
Arlington, VA
North Dakota becomes the 11th state to vote to provide Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to Veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
ND joins the first ten states calling for change in the VA to provide and pay for HBOT for TBI/PTSD. Those states are: OK, TX, IN, KY, AZ, FL, NC, MD, WY, and VA. A total of over $30Million has already been appropriated for treatments. The TreatNOW Coalition has helped heal over 31,000 citizens, including over 12,500 Veterans.
The ND Resolution reads in part:
“WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates between 1.6 million to 3.8 million concussions occur each year; and
WHEREAS, efforts must be made to reduce the risk and health care costs for the country, veterans, and others with brain injuries; and
WHEREAS, veterans injured in the line of duty deserve the best treatment our nation can offer; and
WHEREAS, veterans suffering with traumatic brain injuries or posttraumatic stress disorder are prescribed symptom-reducing drugs; and
WHEREAS, in essence, veterans are warehoused and discharged, dependent on costly antidepressants and other antipsychotic medicines that promote dangerous dependencies and may result in lethal interactions; and
WHEREAS, traumatic brain injury is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the United States, accounting for approximately 2 million emergency room visits, between 230,000 and 500,000 hospital admissions, and 52,000 deaths annually in the United States; and
WHEREAS, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a medical treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing process by inhalation of one hundred percent oxygen in a total body chamber, where atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled, and which is used for a wide variety of treatments as a part of an overall medical care plan; and
WHEREAS, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and improving diagnostics have emerged as a promising and effective treatment in healing injured brains and subsequently reducing, and in some cases completely alleviating, the symptoms associated with the traumatic brain injury . . . . “
HBOT virtually eliminates suicidal ideation, heals brain wounds, and restores life and purpose to the victim, family and society. It allows patients to get off almost all their prescribed medications, especially those prescription drugs that warn of suicidal ideation.
TreatNOW and its over 160 HBOT Coalition Clinics are working to end service member suicides. It is the right thing to do, using scientifically proven HBOT and other alternative therapies that heal brain wounds. Over 27 scientific studies prove the safety and efficacy of HBOT and demonstrate the cost effectiveness of this healing.
As the chart at the head of this release demonstrates, the USG is on a path of increasing funding for Suicide Prevention strategies despite the rise in servicemember suicides. TreatNOW is recommending that Congress, the VA, and DOD reprogram a portion of appropriated Suicide Prevention funds to treat brain-wounded Veterans. The ROI includes a return to the Treasury of funds that would have otherwise been spent on drugs that do not heal brain wounds and may be a major contributor to the suicide epidemic that has claimed the lives of over 153,000 since 9/11.
HEAL BRAINS. STOP SUICIDE. RESTORE LIVES. TREATNOW.

The TreatNOW Mission is ending service member suicides. Along the way, we have learned that we can end suicidal ideation, help end symptoms of PTSD, get patients off most of their drugs, and heal brain wounds to end the effects of Concussion, BLAST injury, mild TBI Persistent Post Concussive Syndrome, and polytrauma from AHI and Burn Pits. No Veteran or civilian has ever been killed while undergoing HBOT treatment for TBI/PTSD.
