Hyperbaric Oxygenation in the Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can help heal brain wounds: TBI/PTSD/Concussion. Peer-reviewed positive scientific and clinical evidence in over 7500 cases demonstrates that HBOT helps heal wounded brains and returns patients to a life denied them by DOD/VA/Army that will not talk about, or even use or pay for HBOT treatment for TBI/PTSD/PCS/Concussion. Successful treatment with HBOT [40 one-hour sessions] virtually eliminates suicidal ideation, an effective “suicide prevention” method. Patients also reduce their drug intake to nearly zero and experience 50% reduction in pain and time to withdrawal. The history of HBOT for TBI is littered with bad science, but evidence-based and clinical medicine data show the safety, efficacy and cost effectiveness of HBOT as a standard of care that should be put on-label and insured.

VA Pilot Demonstration Update and ACTION CONOPS

With the passage of the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act of 2019, S.785, the battle shifts. The TreatNOW Coalition is working to expand the VA’s offering of HBOT for PTSD/TBI.  Based on current feedback from their HBOT Pilot Demonstration so far, results and data have demonstrated HBOT is safe and effective and uniformly successful in treating and helping to heal symptoms of PTSD (with or without TBI) and in treating wounds to the brain. With the suicide epidemic growing across all military services, the National Guard, the Reserves, the VA, Special Operations and in society, Congress should insist that HBOT be made available for all brain-wounded service members and veterans without delay. The MISSION Act anticipates the use of and payment for HBOT in the private sector, starting with the seven states which have already enacted legislation to make HBOT available to TBI/PTSD veterans, in addition to the the 100+ TreatNOW Coalition Clinics.

With the passage of S.785 in both the House and Senate, the stage is set for Congress and individual clinics to bring pressure on the VA to expand their Pilot to include both TBI/PTSD and to pay for treatments and ancillary costs.

The suicide epidemic is real and growing. Emergency measures to provide HBOT to brain injured service members and veterans can be invoked immediately, all the while conducting independent research free of the taint of pre-conceived conclusions about how HBOT does not work.

BLOG #8: Parents’ and Students’ Enhanced Healing Concussion Protocol

The most important message is that you must be your own advocate for brain healing. This idea of a “wound to the brain” is unconventional. The treatment, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and other alternative interventions, are controversial but are backed up by decades of clinical experience, evidence, peer-reviewed science, and over 7,500 success stories attesting to the power of oxygen under pressure to speed healing.

Dr. Daphne Denham, the nation’s premier expert in using Hyperbaric Oxygenation (HBOT) to treat and help heal brain wounds, is amassing evidence that active intervention with HBOT can dramatically reduce symptoms and shorten the negative consequences of Acute Concussions.  348 out of 350 success stories with Acute Concussions, all within days of the injury.

Worldwide research and evidence-based medicine attest to the medical significance of HBOT in treating and healing many kinds of wounds to the brain and is all parts of the body. Seek medical attention immediately, but demand that they talk to you about HBOT therapy. If they don’t, get a second or third opinion.
