Military Suicide: Take 2

The latest iteration of the USAF suicide prevention training. (USAF VR) The thought is that Virtual Reality is a more effective intervention to get service members to help their battle buddies stop suicidal ideation and behavior. Traumatic Brain Injuries and PTSD and Post-Concussive Syndrome are behind too many suicides. Hoping for brain damage and deterioration to go away or somehow become more manageable is a recipe for more suicides. Treat brain wounds using Hyperbaric Oxygenation (HBOT) and other proven safe and effective therapies.

HBOT helps get Riders Back in the Saddle

In December of 2020, career equestrian Jenn Miller was involved in a freak accident on a Florida farm and suffered her second major traumatic brain injury. The Equestrian Aid Foundation partnered with the Help Our Wounded Foundation (HOW), a South Florida-based nonprofit that funds medical grade hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatments for people with brain injuries, to help Jenn through her recovery and back into the saddle.

Following their conversation earlier this month, U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) pressed Denis McDonough, President Joe Biden’s nominee to be the Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs (VA), during his Senate VA Committee confirmation hearing today on the issue of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and support for it in the VA Department.
